Sir Umer Ijaz
Academic Director & System Architect
Many people assume a career, a discipline, or a lifelong mission begins with a grand vision. Mine began with a single number.
My mother once fell short of passing her bachelor's English examination by just one mark. That number stayed with me, not as a statistic, but as a quiet turning point that shaped the direction of my thinking, and eventually, my purpose.
It led me to pursue English linguistics, language, and literature, not merely as an academic field, but as a lifelong commitment to language as access: access to education, to confidence, and to opportunity that a single mark can silently close off.
At the center of this journey is my mother. Her experience is not just a memory; it is the foundation of everything I build. What she could not complete in her time, I chose to carry forward in mine, as a continuation of its meaning.
This institution stands as an extension of that purpose: to help others master English so they do not face the same limitations that too many people quietly endure alone.

The Philosophy Behind Al-Qalam
At the center of this journey is my mother. Her experience is not just a memory; it is the foundation of everything I build. What she could not complete in her time, I chose to carry forward in mine, as a continuation of its meaning.
This institution stands as an extension of that purpose: to help others master English so they do not face the same limitations that too many people quietly endure alone.
“To turn a single mark of loss into a lifelong commitment to learning, teaching, and opening doors for others — that is the only direction this work has ever needed.”
